Soul Dance

What does your body want to express today?

What is it holding?

Where is it holding it?

Let’s dance through it.

Lesley has always loved dancing.

She believes it’s the quickest and safest way to express how we are feeling.

Lesley has facilitated free dance expression within her work in welfare roles and enjoyed exploring over many years, various dance modalities such as chakra dance, bellydance and more.

Lesley believes that there is absolutely no skill required in moving your body and the main ingredient is a willingness to be open and to allow the body to express, however it wants to. This does not have to look pretty!

Dance can make space for whatever wants to arise within you, from joy to sadness and everything in between.

“When we are dancing all other thoughts subside and it becomes an active meditation.”

Workshops available by request…

  • A workshop for 10-12 year old girls to celebrate their transition into young maidens.

  • We can create an event for your daughter and a minimum of 4 other girls.

  • At Lionsa in Frankston.

If you wish it to be done elsewhere, let us know but essentially the Celebration Day for Girls program has facilitators in many areas around the world.

  • This link takes you to the facilitators page of their website but feel free to peruse other pages.

  • Yes! There is a workshop available for young women and teens of a similar nature to the Celebration Day for Girls. It would be drawing upon the wisdom of Dr Kaalii Cargill and her book ‘Don’t Take it Lying Down’ addressing many topics such as mind-body contraception, the stages and archetypes of woman and more (facilitated through Lionsa separately to the Celebration Day for Girls organisation).

  • A workshop in which you’ll be taken on a physical journey (by foot, public transport or bike) in which you’ll engage in various creative tasks along the way.

  • Pretty much a taste of everything you can think of. Drawing, nature art, movement, song, poetry, photography…

  • Anywhere! We are based in Melbourne, Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula but may be able create a workshop in the other areas, in Victoria, interstate or even overseas. Try us!

  • We have run the tours as School Holiday Programs before, so, yes.

  • Some tours have been for children and some for adults and others have been open, for families. You’re welcome to create what suits you.

  • Space to dance freely in.

    Music to dance freely to.

Absence of ‘guidance’ to freely let go.

  • The main difference is that we do not instruct or guide or speak to you during the main part of the experience.

Another difference is that we do not tend to use much music which is very electronic in its style. Our preference is to favour world and traditional music forms.

  • A group would be ideal for this event, but you can also request us to hold this event in your area and we will consider and discuss it with you.

  • Be guided by Fiona to learn basic African dance steps, of West African and Soukous origins, with a flavour of a focus on the healing nature of this type of movement. And lots of fun!

  • No previous dance experience is necessary.

  • Currently nothing is scheduled but if you are interested, get in touch and perhaps we can set up a class near you.
